Advocating for Equity in Mobility

The Human Drivers Advocacy Network (HDAN) is a trailblazer in championing mobility equity for drivers facing systemic inequities in the autonomous vehicle (AV) era. As AVs revolutionize urban transportation with advanced infrastructure, rural communities—home to 19% of Americans—and low-income drivers confront rising insurance costs and restrictive regulations. Farmworkers, 2.4 million strong, rely on affordable vehicles to sustain vibrant rural lifestyles that enrich our global diversity. Yet, urban-driven AV trends inflate premiums, threatening their right to mobility and access to jobs, healthcare, and community.

HDAN confronts these disparities with bold advocacy, engaging rural and low-income communities to amplify their voices. We weave drivers’ stories  into data-driven analyses of insurance pricing and regulatory impacts, ensuring policies reflect their unique challenges. Our flagship initiative—a landmark policy brief—will propose inclusive standards, guiding lawmakers to safeguard equitable transportation access. Backed by U.S. Census and USDA data, HDAN’s rigorous approach positions us as a trusted leader in shaping systemic change. We envision a future where AV integration uplifts all drivers, preserving mobility as a cornerstone of human dignity.

By celebrating the diverse lifestyles of rural and low-income drivers, HDAN drives a movement for inclusive transportation. Our work ensures that the AV revolution does not marginalize those who sustain our agricultural and cultural tapestry, making us a pivotal force in the future of mobility.
